How would the world be different if human beings were not inherently optimistic?

· How would the world be different if human beings were not inherently optimistic? I feel that if human beings are not inherently optimistic the world would not have anybody trying to make progress in any place as being optimistic is the drive that makes people strive to achieve more. There would be no lying in this world and only the truth will be told as people will not think about the outcomes of what happens if they lie to protect others or themselves. If there is no optimism then people would fail all the time and they would never get back up to try again as none of them will think about the benefits that the thing they invent will have towards the human race which will make inventors a thing of the past. Without optimism there would be no happy life as people will not imagine good things as they are not optimistic so life will basically have no meaning. This is what I think would happen if humans were not inherently optimistic.
